- Diarrhoea : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Lopéramide-like.
According to Purwal L (2011): Hence the present study was under taken to explore anti-diarrhoeal activity of Amorphophallus paenifolius eaves. Swiss Albino rats of either sex weighing 150-180 g were used for study & nti-diarrhoeal activity was evaluated by castor oil-induced Diarrhoea model. According to Nataraj HN (2011): The Methanolic Extract of Suran – Corms of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius (MECAP) exhibited remarkable anti-oxidant activity in various In-vitro models. - Bacterial infection : Plant part used: ROOT (TUBER). Documented pharmacological profile: Kanamycine-like.
According to KHAN A (2008): Results & Major conclusion: The compound showed significant antibacterial activities against four Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus megaterium, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus β-haemolyticus) & six Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella sonnei, Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi). Materials & Methods: In vitro antibacterial & antifungal activities were evaluated by disc diffusion & MICs technique was determined by serial dilution technique. According to KHAN A (2008): Results: Large zones of inhibition were observed in disc diffusion antibacterial screening against four Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus megaterium, Staphylococcus aureus & Streptococcus pyogenes) & six Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella sonnei, Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa & Salmonella typhi). - Cancer chemoprevention : Plant part used: Root. Documented pharmacological profile: Vincristine-like.
According to Ansil PN (2014): Several possible colon cancer chemopreventive agents are found in edible plants. Antiproliferative effects of the sub fractions of ACME were studied by MTT assay. According to Ansil PN (2014): In this study, we investigated the curative effect of Amorphophallus campanulatus tuber methanolic extract (ACME) on N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in experimental rats.
