  1. Hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease : Plant part used: Whole plant. Documented pharmacological profile: Silymarine-like.
According to Guenné S (2014): To assess the relevance of Chrysantellum americanum (L.) Vatke extracts in rat liver protection. Methodology: In vivo, anti-hepatotoxicity effects of C americanum was evaluated using CCl4 as hepatotoxic agent.
  2. Anxiety, nervousness : Plant part used: Whole plant.
According to Cojocariu R (2019): In the present study, we assessed the effects of Chrysantellum americanum polyphenolic extract in the psychological stress-induced rat model of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a chronic functional digestive tract disorder marked by immune & inflammatory-related disturbances of central nervous & peripheral intestinal systems, which is often associated with mood disorders including depression & anxiety. Consequently, memory impairment, anxiety & depression behavioral indicators, & cerebral oxidative stress biomarker Dynamics were evaluated in a multifactorial heterotypic stress-exposed IBS rats after 6-day gavage with polyphenolic CA extract (100 mg/kg body weight).
  3. Depression : Plant part used: Whole plant.
According to Cojocariu R (2019): Consequently, memory impairment, anxiety & depression behavioral indicators, & cerebral oxidative stress biomarker Dynamics were evaluated in a multifactorial heterotypic stress-exposed IBS rats after 6-day gavage with polyphenolic CA extract (100 mg/kg body weight). Administration of the extract exhibited significant anxiolytic & antidepressant-like effects coupled with significantly increased temporal lobe antioxidant enzyme specific activity (superoxide dismutase & glutathione peroxidase) & decreased Malondialdehyde levels, a well-known lipid peroxidation marker.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
