- Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Imipenem-like, Gentamycine-like, Norfloxacine-like.
According to Muniz Dos-Santos FM (2019): Methods: The bacterial Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus & Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains, grown in Heart Agar Infusion, were tested. However, when the extracts were associated with gentamicin & imipenem, a synergism was detected against S aureus & Ecoli MDR strains. According to da Silva APS (2016): Additionally, antimicrobial & combinatory effects with oxacillin were assessed against eight clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus. - Oxidative stress : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Acide ascorbique-like.
According to Cao YLL (2010): (ECS) on oxidative stress and ROS-ERK1/2-Ha-Ras signal Loop in SSc dermal fibroblasts in vitro. In conclusion, ECS exhibits a notable activity in protecting against oxidative stress & interrupting of ROS-ERK1/2-Ha-Ras signal Loop in SSc, suggesting its potential protective effects against skin sclerosis. - Helminthiasis : Plant part used: Root. Documented pharmacological profile: Ivermectine-like.
According to Andrade FD (2014): To investigate the anthelmintic potential of hydroalcoholic extract of the root of Tarenaya spinosa, as an alternative in the control of gastrointestinal nematode Haemonchus contortus in sheep, in vitro tests were performed with Artemia salina then on stool cultures containing helminth eggs, assessing ovicidal & larvicidal action of the extract.
Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
