  1. Neurological disorders : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Fluoxetine-like.
According to Kalariya M (2015): The effect of HECE was comparable with that of Fluoxetine (5 mg/kg, i.p.) – a reference standard drug used in the treatment of obsessive–compulsive disorder (p50.001). Objective: The current research evaluated the anti-obsessive–compulsive disorder (anti compulsive) activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of leaves of C esculenta (HECE) for the first time using the marble-burying behavior test in mice.
  2. Cancer : Plant part used: Tuber.
According to Park HR (2013): The administration of Taro-4-I significantly inhibited the lung metastasis of B16BL6 melanoma cells. The treatment of peritoneal macrophages with Taro-4-I significantly increased the production of interleukin (IL)-6 & tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in a dose-dependent manner. According to Brown AC (2005): Soluble extracts of poi were incubated at 100 mg/mL in vitro for antiproliferative activity against the rat YYT colon cancer cell line.
  3. Arthritis, rheumatism, osteoarthritis : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Aspirine-like, Indometacine-like, Etoricoxib-like, Diclofenac-like.
According to Kumbhar C (2014): Paw volume, paw diameter and loss in body weight during arthritis condition were corrected on prophylactic treatment with hydroalcoholic extract of CE leaves & Diclofenac. The results of the current investigation concluded, hydroalcoholic extract of CE leaves possess a significant anti-arthritic activity against Complete Freund's adjuvant induced arthritis & formaldehyde induced arthritis model & justifying its prophylactic role in arthritic condition. According to Pereira PR (2020): Such broad effects are achieved by the taro health-influencing compounds displaying antitumoral, antimutagenic, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-hyperglycemic, & anti-hyperlipidemic activities.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
