- Cancer : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: L10-A-ligand-like.
According to Carvalho M (2010): The present study reports the phenolic profile & antiproliferative properties of quince (Cydonia oblonga Miller) leaf & fruit (pulp, peel, & seed) against human kidney & colon cancer cells. Concerning the fruit, seed extracts exhibited no effect on colon cancer cell growth, whereas strong antiproliferative efficiency against renal cancer cells was observed for the highest concentration assayed (500 μg/mL). According to Alesiani D (2010): Alesiani D et al, Antioxidant & antiproliferative activities of phytochemical from Quince (Cydonia vulgaris) peels. - Hyperlipidaemia, hypercholesterolaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Simvastatine-like.
According to UMAR A (2015): Methods: Hyperlipidaemic rat models were created with high-lipid emulsion. This confirms its potential value in the prevention & treatment of hyperlipidaemia. According to Mirmohammadlu M (2015): Mirmohammadlu M et al, hypolipidemic, Hepatoprotective & Renoprotective Effects of Cydonia Oblonga Mill fruit in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats. - Osteoarthritis, arthritis, rheumatism, oedema : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Indometacine-like.
According to AHMED MM (2014): Conclusion C oblonga possesses potent antiinflammatory activity through inhibition of NO, LPO, IL-6 & TNF-α levels leading to alleviate edema. The present study aimed to investigate the antiinflammatory effect of C oblonga (COL) evaluated by the following models: arachidonic acid-induced ear edema and carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats. According to Essafi-Benkhadir K (2012): Essafi-Benkhadir K et al, Quince (Cydonia oblonga Miller) peel polyphenols modulate LPS-induced inflammation in human THP-1-derived macrophages through NF-kappaB, p38MAPK and Akt inhibition.
