- Cancer : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Campothécine-like, Doxorubicine-like.
According to Saminathan V (2020): It shows durian fruit extract to have an excellent anti-proliferative & anticancer activities against Chang liver cell lines. MTT assay was used for the cytotoxicity of durian extract against Chang Liver cell lines. According to Khonkarn R (2010): We concluded that the EA fraction of rambutan peel is a promising resource for potential novel antioxidant agents whereas the hexane fraction of coconut peel may contain novel anticancer compounds. - Fungal infection : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Ketoconazole-like.
According to Abdul E.A (2024): The incidence of antifungal resistance to Candida albicans infections has been growing over the past years; therefore, innovations are required to develop medicinal plants with antifungal properties such as durian fruit peels (Durio zibethinus Murray) that contain significant of bioactive compounds with antifungal properties. The diffusion method was used to determine the antifungal activity. According to Sutanto YS (2022): RESULTS: The results showed PG durian peel ethanolic extract concentration (100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 1.5%, & CG 1.5% %) or a combination of durian peel extract PG (1.5%) & CG (1.5%) 1:1 ratio; 1:2; 2:1 was antimicrobial against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, & Candida albicans ATCC 10231. - Urolithiasis, gout : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Allopurinol-like.
According to Muhtadi M (2015): The study was showing the uric acid levels reduction of male mice was given durian fruit peels & longan seed ethanol extract which induced by potassium oxonate dose 250 mg/kgBW before, with the Allopurinol doses 10 mg/kgBW as positive control. The prevalence of hyperuricemic (gout) from year to year in Indonesia has increased.
