According to Prabhu K (2011): Prabhu K et al, Hepatoprotective effect of Eclipta Alba on paracetamol induced liver toxicity in rats. - Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Ciprofloxacine-like.
According to Karthikkumar S (2007): the hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol & water extract of aerial parts of the Eclipta prostrata were tested for its antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus. Highest activity of both antibacterial & antioxidant was observed only in ethanol & ethyl acetate extracts, while hexane & water extracts did not show any significant results. According to Uddin N (2010): Large zone of inhibition was observed in disc diffusion Antibacterial screening against gram negative Salmonella typhi, Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli, Salmonella paratyphi, Pseudomonas sp (1) & Pseudomonas sp (II), & gram-positive Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus Cereus, Bacillus megaterim & Staphylococcus aureus at the concentration of 1mg/disc.
Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
