  1. Bacterial infections : Plant part used: Fruit (pericarp).
Selon GEETHA R (s.d.) : coli [GNB], Klebsiella pneumoniae [GNB], Vibrio cholerae [GNB], Pseudomonas aeruginosa [GNB] & Staphylococcus aureus, [Gram positive Cocci] using agar well diffusion technique. Antibacterial activity of ethanolic & aqueous fruit rind extract of GM was screened against Salmonella typhi, [Gram negative bacilli-GNB], Shigella dysenteriae [GNB], E. Selon Cunha BL (2014) : Evaluation by antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus & Escherichia coli by agar diffusion test and by determination of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC).
  2. Cancer : Plant part used: Fruit (pericarp). Documented pharmacological profile: Bortezomib-like.
Selon Fukuda M (2017) : The present study examined the impact of α-mangostin on human oral squamous cell carcinoma (HOSCC). However, it remains unclear whether α-mangostin induces cell death in oral cancer. Selon WANG JJ (2012) : This study examined the anti-skin cancer properties of crude ethanol extract of mangosteen pericarp (MPEE) on human squamous cell carcinoma A-431 and melanoma SK-MEL-28 lines.
  3. Teratogenesis caused by retinoic acid : Plant part used: Fruit (pericarp). Documented pharmacological profile: Accutane-like.
Selon Auteur (2017) : Mangosteen crude extract, extracted using 95% ETOH has higher yield of altering malformations caused by retinoic acid than mangosteen crude extract, extracted using 50% ETOH. On the contrary, both extracts administered with retinoic acid showed Antiteratogenic properties by minimizing the malformations on the duck embryo’s head width, eye diameter, culmen length, culmen depth, radius & ulna length, wing length, body length, total body length, shank length & foot length.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
