  1. Rheumatism, osteoarthritis, arthritis, oedema : Plant part used: Root. Documented pharmacological profile: Indometacine-like.
Selon Silva Oliveira TL (2017) : The formalin-induced nociception was used to evaluate antinociceptive activity; carrageenan-induced edema & pleurisy tests to evaluate anti-inflammatory activity & light-dark box to evaluate anxiolytic-like activity in mice. In silico findings suggest that hibalactone present anti-inflammatory activity by interacting with the enzymes 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase-2. Selon Hamdy S (2020) : The goal of the present study is to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of the defatted ethanolic extract (DEE) of the aerial parts using carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema method.
  2. Anxiety, nervousness : Plant part used: Root. Documented pharmacological profile: Diazepam-like.
Selon ROCHA F (2011) : This work investigates the anxiolytic-like effects of the ethanol extract from H. The plant Hydrocotyle umbellata L., Araliaceae (water pennywort), is widely used in Brazilian folk medicine to reduce anxiety. Selon Silva Oliveira TL (2017) : In the light dark box, the treatments with DF-HU, EAF-HU & HU-1 revealed an anxiolytic like effect.
  3. Pain, hyperalgesia : Plant part used: Root. Documented pharmacological profile: Morphine-like.
Selon FLORENTINO IC (2013) : EEA also presented a supra spinal analgesic activity by increasing the pain latency in the hot plate test. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of the ethanolic extract from Acariçoba underground parts (EEA). Selon Silva Oliveira TL (2017) : umbellata showed antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory & anxiolytic like activities, as also hibalactone, a possible phytoconstituent responsible for the biological effects of this specie.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
