- Type II diabetes mellitus : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Glibenclamide-like.
Selon Singh H (2013) : Petroleum ether (60-80°C), chloroform, methanol & aqueous extracts (250 & 500 mg/kg body weight) were orally administered to alloxan-induced diabetic mice for 7 days. Methanol extract exhibited significant reduction in plasma glucose level as compared to diabetic control, followed by aqueous extract. Selon Granados S (2015) : (Euphorbiaceae) is a plant widely used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but there are few scientific reports validating its activity in this area. - Pest control : Plant part used: Pest control and veterinary products. Documented pharmacological profile: Cyperméthrine-like. Mentioned synergistic association: Melia Azedarach-feuille.
Selon Auteur (2012) : A study has been made of the toxicity of ethanolic senescent leaf extracts (SLEs) of Jatropha gossypifolia & Melia azedarach on larvae of the noctuid pest Spodoptera frugiperda. To reduce rates of synthetic insecticide applications, natural product alternatives & synergists are needed. Selon Khumrungsee N (2009) : (Euphorbiaceae) against Spodoptera exigua hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae): Toxicity & its detoxifying enzyme activities. - High blood pressure, oedema, fluid retention : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Hydrochlorothiazide-like.
Selon ABREU I (2003) : The oral administration of EE (125 or 250 mg kg−1 day−1) caused a significant & dose-dependent reduction of the systolic blood pressure. The present work was carried out to examine the hypotensive effects of ethanolic extract (EE) from Jatropha gossypiifolia. Selon De Andrade-Peas M (2012) : (Euphorbiaceae) is popularly known in Brazil as pião roxo & extensively used for hypotensive, spasmolytic & tocolytic purposes.
Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
