  1. Osteoarthritis, arthritis, rheumatism, oedema : Plant part used: Sheet.
    Selon Prajapati RP (2010) : Particular attention is given to its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antihyperlipidemic, diuretic, hepatoprotective, anthelmintic, & antibacterial effects so that its potential uses in pharmaceutics can be better evaluated. Boiled in oil this pulp is used to treat rheumatism & insomnia. Selon Deshmukh DB (2019) : Ethanolic extract of the fruit & leaves of Lagenaria siceraria was investigated in rats & mice for analgesic & anti-inflammatory activities.
  2. Hepatotoxicity : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Silymarine-like.
    Selon Panchal CV (2013) : Antioxidants are well known for their hepatoprotective effect & in curing liver disorders. Hepatoprotective activity was evaluated at three oral dose levels of 250, 500 & 1000 mg/kg. Selon Owais F (2019) : CONCLUSION: Hepatoprotective potential of L.S suggested its use to prevent elevation of hepatic enzymes due to long term administration of carbamazepine.
  3. Obesity : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Orlistat-like. Mentioned synergistic association: association synergique avec PIPER NIGRUM-L (Fruit), Terminalia arjuna-écorce.
    Selon Pallavi RD (2015) : There was a significant reduction in food intake, body weight, organ weights, TC, TG, LDL, locomotor activity & an increase in HDL levels in high fat diet fed rats treated formulation containing Lsiceraria, T arjuna & P longum as compared to the Positive Standard, Marketed & Normal treated animals. In the present study, new anti-obesity polyherbal formulations were developed & their effect was studied in female rats fed on high fat diet. Selon Vaibhav A (2016) : Conclusion: LS fruit juice effectively controls obesity & overweight.
