  1. Cancer : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Cisplatine-like.
Selon Hassan S (2008) : Hepatoprotective activity of 50% ethanolic leaf extracts of Parkinsonia aculeata was evaluated against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatic damage in rats. Hepatoprotective activity was measured based on biochemical parameters. Selon Rani P (2018) : Methods: Anticancer activity of PA (EEPA) of leaf extract was evaluated in Swiss albino mice against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cell line at the doses of 200 & 400 mg/kg body weight orally.
  2. Dyslipidaemia : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Gemfibrozil-like.
Selon Franco ES (2022) : Treatment with PfrHEPA (140 mg/kg), even with the continued consumption of westernized diet by animals (from 120 to 150 days) promoted a significant reduction in total cholesterol, LDL & triglyceride levels, in relation to untreated W group. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of polar fraction obtained from the hydroethanolic extract of PA(PfrHEPA) on the lipid profile of animals that consumed a westernized diet. Selon Rani P (2018) : The extracts significantly (p<0.05) decreased the levels of lipid peroxidation & significantly (p<0.05) increased the levels of reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase & catalase.
  3. Type II diabetes mellitus : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Insuline-like, Metformine-like.
Selon Leite ACR (2011) : This paper reports the characterization of the antidiabetic role of a hydroethanolic extract from Parkinsonia aerial parts (HEPA), in normal & alloxan-induced diabetic rats, treated with HEPA (125 & 250 mg/kg; p.o.). aculeata presents an antidiabetic activity & other beneficial effects that ameliorate diabetes & associated complications. Selon Leite ACR (2007) : Leite ACR et al, Parkinsonia aculeata aqueous extract fraction: Biochemical studies in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
