  1. Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Rhizome. Documented pharmacological profile: Ceftazidime-like.
Selon Delfino V (2021) : Results & conclusion: Seven endophytes, belonging to Pseudomonas & Stenotrophomonas, were able to inhibit the growth of most of the target strains. In this context, bacteria associated to medicinal plants, including Phragmites australis, might represent an important source of antimicrobial compounds. Selon Sohaib M (2022) : The antimicrobial activity assays were performed on gram-positive bacteria (i.e., Bacillus subtilis & Staphylococcus aureus), gram-negative bacteria (i.e., Escherichia coli, & Pseudomonas aeruginosa), & fungi (i.e., Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, & Rhizopus spp.).
  2. Fungal infection : Plant part used: Rhizome. Documented pharmacological profile: Nystatine-like.
Selon Sohaib M (2022) : The antimicrobial activity assays were performed on gram-positive bacteria (i.e., Bacillus subtilis & Staphylococcus aureus), gram-negative bacteria (i.e., Escherichia coli, & Pseudomonas aeruginosa), & fungi (i.e., Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, & Rhizopus spp.). The results of antimicrobial activities revealed that B. Selon Ren Y (2022) : During the Novel Coronavirus epidemic in 2020, the Weijing Decoction & Wuye Lugen Decoction, with Rhizoma phragmitis as the main herbal component, were included in The Pneumonia Treatment Protocol for Novel Coronavirus Infection (Trial Version 5) due to remarkable antiviral effects.
  3. Cancer : Plant part used: Rhizome.
Selon Ren Y (2022) : Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Rhizoma phragmitis has antiviral, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, & hypoglycemic functions, lowers blood lipids & protects the liver & kidney. (2022) : PA rhizoma polysaccharide-based nanocarriers may protect azathioprine liposomes against gastrointestinal digestion, enhance the therapeutic effects on ulcerative colitis, & significantly reduce liver damage from azathioprine, which helps to improve the efficacy & toxicity of clinical drugs,.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
