  1. Oxidative stress : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Acide ascorbique-like.
Selon Gutiérrez RMP (2016) : The effects of lipid peroxidation & oxidative stress in the liver, pancreas, & kidney were reversed, with reductions insulin resistance & stimulation of insulin production. Selon Pérez Gutiérrez RM (2012) : Pérez Gutiérrez RM et al, Effect of the hexane extract of Piper auritum on insulin release from -cell & oxidative stress in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat.
  2. Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Pest control and veterinary products.
Selon Aguilar-Urquizo E (2020) : The objective of this study was to evaluate the phytobiotic activity, in vitro & in vivo, of an extract & an essential oil of Piper auritum & Ocimum basilicum on avian Escherichia coli serotype O2 in broiler chickens experimentally infected. The diameter of the inhibition zone (DIZ) of bacterial growth was measured. Selon del Socorro Fernandes M (2021) : The concentrations of flavonoids, phenols, terpenes, alkaloids & salicylic acid were measured in PA ethanolic extracts & the antifungal activity was measured with the median effective concentration (EC50).
  3. Fungal infection : Plant part used: Pest control and veterinary products.
Selon del Socorro Fernandes M (2021) : The effect of chitosan addition on the production of secondary metabolites of Piper auritum ethanolic extracts was tested, as well as the in vitro fungicidal activity against Fusarium oxysporum f. The concentrations of flavonoids, phenols, terpenes, alkaloids & salicylic acid were measured in PA ethanolic extracts & the antifungal activity was measured with the median effective concentration (EC50). Selon Chacon C (2021) : Chacon C et al, In Vitro Antifungal Activity & Chemical Composition of Piper auritum Kunth Essential Oil against Fusarium oxysporum & Fusarium equiseti, Agronomy, 11(6):1098, 2021-Abtract: The essential oils of plants of the genus Piper have secondary metabolites that have antimicrobial activity related to their chemical composition.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
