  1. Cancer : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Cis-Platinum-like.
Selon PANIGRAHI S (2014) : The present study aims to evaluate the cytotoxic effect of ethanolic extract of Solanum torvum (EEST) on Ehrlich's Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) cell lines. Selon Thenmozhi A (2011) : Cancer is essentially a problem of abnormal cell growth.
  2. Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Tétracycline-like.
Selon Luhata LP (2015) : the evaluation of the antibacterial activity using five bacterial strains (Klebsiella, Shigella, Salmonella, Escherichia coli & Staphylococcus aureus) showed that the most active leaf extract was that of Odontonema strictum (Acanthaceae) compared to that of Solanum torvum, Symphytum officinale L. The inhibition diameters were measured & no resistance was observed at the concentration of 100 g/ml across all bacterial strains. Selon Amponsaa Brobbey A (2016) : The antimicrobial assay was performed on Staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus pyogenens, klebsiella pneumonia & Escherichia coli using agar well diffusion method that gave minimum inhibitory concentrations of 2.5 mg/ml, 3.16 mg/ml, 5.0 mg/ml & 5.0 mg/ml respectively.
  3. Type II diabetes mellitus : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Glibenclamide-like.
Selon Lyer UM (1992) : The effect of dry S torvum powder supplementation (7 g providing 1.23 g of crude fibre) on glycemic control, lipidemic control, total amino acids & uronic acid was studied on 30 non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients. All the patients were on hypoglycemic drugs. R (2011) : On the basis of the results obtained in the present investigation it can be concluded that the ethanolic extract of ST proved to possess both antidiabetic as well as anti-obesity activity when Fed to high-fat diet-induced obesity & type –II diabetic male albino rats.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
