- Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Ciprofloxacine-like.
Selon OKOYE TC (2010) : Organisms used were all clinical isolates of Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella paratyphi, Candida albicans & Aspergillus niger. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extract & fractions (mg/mL) on Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa & Salmonella paratyphi respectively were ME 5.62, 14.12, 22.38, 2.11; EF 1.25, 6.30, 9.40, 9.40 & MF 3.98, 8.81, 39.80, 21.13. Selon Okoronkwo JO (2012) : The result of bacterial inhibition showed that among all the test organisms screened, the ethanol & water extracts of leaves & stem of the plant had promising activity against Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa & klebsiella pneumonia bacteria. - Leishmaniasis : Plant part used: Pest control and veterinary products. Documented pharmacological profile: Glucantime-like.
Selon Moreira RCR (2007) : Leishmanicidal activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Stachytarpheta cayennensis, species that is usually employed in ulcers caused by Leishmania, was evaluated in vitro using Leishmania braziliensis & L. The extract presented a dose and specie-dependent leishmanicidal effect to Leishmania promastigotes, mainly to the LB ones. - Plasmodiasis : Plant part used: Pest control and veterinary products. Documented pharmacological profile: Chloroquine-like.
Selon Okokon JE (2008) : Materials & methods: The ethanolic leaf extract of SC (90-270 mg/kg/day) was screened for blood schizonticidal activity against chloroquine sensitive Plasmodium berghei-Berghei in mice. To evaluate the in vivo antiplasmodial activity of the ethanol leaf extract of Stachytarpheta cayennensis in the treatment of various ailment in Niger Delta region of Nigeria, in Plasmodium berghei infected mice.
Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
