- Cancer : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: 5-Fluoro-Uracile-like.
According to Suresh HM (2011): Materials & Methods: Ethanol & aqueous extracts of roots of Annona reticulata were studied for their in vitro antiproliferative activity on A-549 (human lung carcinoma), K-562 (human chronic myelogenous leukemia bone marrow), HeLa (human cervix) & MDA-MB (human adenocarcinoma mammary gland) cancer cell lines by MTT [3-(4,5-dimethyl thiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide] colorimetric assay. Conclusion: The significant antiproliferative activity of the ethanol extract of A reticulata roots against A-549, K-562, HeLa & MDA-MB human cancer cell lines may be attributed toward the collective presence of acetogenins, alkaloids & lower inhibitory effect on Vero cell line, which suggests A reticulata be used as a chemopreventive agent in cancer therapy. According to Suresh H (2011): Simultaneously, the in vitro inhibition of the ethanol extract toward Vero cell line proliferation was lower in comparison with cancer cell lines. - Helminthiasis : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Albendazole-like.
According to Akshay C (2020): The aim of the present study was to evaluate the In-vitro Anthelmintic activity of ethanolic extract of leaves of Annona reticulata Linn (Annonaceae) against worms Eisenia fetida. Albendazole (20 mg/ml) is used as a standard drug & normal saline water as control. According to Bhale S (2011): Bhale S et al, in vitro anthelmintic activity of Annona Reticulata leaves extract against Eisinia fetida, Int. - Convulsion, epilepsy : Plant part used: Bark. Documented pharmacological profile: Diazépam-like.
According to D’Souza S (2019): The present study was evaluated for the Antiepileptic activity of methanolic & aqueous extracts of leaves Annona reticulata on the seizures induced by chemical and electroconvulsive method i.e., PTZ & MES methods. In this study, the antiepileptic study of methanolic & aqueous extract of Annona reticulata at doses of 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg using the PTZ & MES models were investigated in Swiss Albino Rats. According to MALI KK (2022): Hydroalcoholic extract of bark of Annona reticulate was evaluated for antiepileptic activity using pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) induced seizures model, diazepam was used as the standard drug.
Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
