  1. Cancer : Plant part used: Aerial parts.
According to Vijayalakshmi A (2013): The flavonoid fraction possesses potent anticancer property against breast cancer cells (MCF7) with IC50value of 40 μg/mL. Breast cancer (MCF 7) cell line was used as the in vitro cancer model for MTT assay. According to Author (2020): The EECQ & MECQ possess pronounced anticancer efficacy against leukemic cells HL-60 with an IC50 value of 36 μg/mL and 40 μg/mL respectively.
  2. Pain, hyperalgesia : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Diclofenac-like.
According to Priyanka V (2010): This study was intended to evaluate the analgesic antiinflammatory & antipyretic activity of ethanolic extract of Cissus quadrangularis in experimental standard modals i.e., albino rats following oral administration. The results showed that the ethanolic extract significantly reduce the edema induced by carrageenan within 1 to 5 hrs post dosing at all the dose levels used. According to Anthong A (n.d.): Anthong A et al, Analgesic, antiinflammatory and venotonic effects of Cissus quadrangularis Linn.
  3. Osteoarthritis, rheumatism, oedema, arthritis : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Indometacine-like.
According to Farney TM (2013): Cissus quadrangularis (CQ) has been reported to have anti-inflammatory activity. Strenuous, high-volume exercise is often associated with inflammation and joint pain. According to Pirshahid AP (2016): In the anti-inflammatory evaluation, the extract exhibited 50% inhibition of the carrageenan-induced rat paw edema at a dose of 500 mg kg-1 after 5 h, which was nearly equivalent to the reference diclofenac at 10 mg/kg The extract showed a venoconstrictive effect with EC50 values of 0.01 & 0.03 µg mL for endothelium intact & denuded rat veins, respectively.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
