  1. Osteoarthritis, arthritis, rheumatism, oedema : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Indometacine-like.
    According to Albuquerque TM (2009): CgLP-induced inflammation was observed in peritonitis, paw edema & air push models. Cimetidine was effective only in the initial phase of edema. According to Castro JP (2014): This mechanisms & its antioxidant activity could contribute, at least in part, to the anti-inflammatory effect showed by this plant.
  2. Oxidative stress : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: acide ascorbique-like.
  3. Cancer : Plant part used: Root.
    According to El Zalabani S (2003): Cytotoxic activity was determined using Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cell-line, in vitro. According to DOSKOTCH W (1972): An alcoholic extract of the aboveground parts of Cryptostegia grandiflora showed inhibitory activity against the KB cell culture & was fractionated through a series of partitions & column chromatography to yield five cardenolides: oleandrigenin, 16-propionylgitoxigenin-a new natural product, 16-anhy drogitoxigenin, gitoxigenin, & rhodexin B,.
