- Cancer : Plant part used: Whole plant. Documented pharmacological profile: Cisplatine-like.
According to Zeinab RA (2011): carota umbels on 7, 12-dimethyl Benz (a) anthracene (DMBA)-induced skin cancer in mice. Tumor appearance, incidence, yield & volume were compared with those of a non-treated control group. According to ALKHATIB MH (2019): Forty female Swiss Albino mice bearing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) were split into four groups (n =10). - High blood pressure, oedema, fluid retention : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Furosemide-like.
According to Gilani AH (2000): Intravenous administration of these compounds caused a dose-dependent (1-10 mg/kg) fall in arterial blood pressure in normotensive anaesthetised rats. These results indicate that DC-2 & DC-3 may be acting through blockade of calcium channels & this effect may be responsible for the blood pressure lowering effect of the compounds observed in the in vivo studies. According to Al-Snafi A (n.d.): The pharmacological studies revealed that the plant possessed cytotoxic, antioxidant, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, smooth muscle relaxant, hypotensive effect and decrease intraocular pressure, gastroprotective, nephroprotective, hepatoprotective, cardioprotective antidepressant memory enhancement, anti-inflammatory, reproductive, wound healing and hear induction and many other effects. - Hypercholesterolaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia, hyperlipidaemia, atherosclerosis : Plant part used: Seed. Documented pharmacological profile: Lovastatine-like.
