Hylocereus undatus (Pitaya) : medicinal properties in alcoholic extraction

1. Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Fruit (flesh). Documented pharmacological profile: Chloramphénicol-like.
   Selon Auteur (2019) : (25 mm) simultaneously, methanol peel extract showed its antibacterial activity against Klebsiella sp. Methanol pulp extract showed its antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas sp. Selon Naseer U (2012) : Naseer U et al, Evaluation of antibacterial activity of five selected fruits on bacterial wound isolates.
2. Adjuvant treatment for Alzheimer’s disease : Plant part used: Fruit (flesh). Documented pharmacological profile: Carbidopa Levodopa-like.
3. Constipation : Plant part used: Fruit (flesh). Documented pharmacological profile: Bisacodyl-like, Lopéramide-like.
   Selon Kanchana P (2018) : HU extract was found to increase the number of faecal matter, faecal weight & decrease in the water content of faeces which were indication of laxative activity of HU Conclusion: The result of the study shows the Antiparkinson’s & Constipation activity of H undatus. Group I received 0.9% Normal saline (10ml per kg ) ,Group II received loperamide (5mg/kg p.o), Group III received bisacodyl (20 mg/kg p.o along with loperamide) & Group IV & Group V received ethanolic extract of HU (200 & 400mg/kg p.o), respectively along with loperamide.
