  1. Type II diabetes mellitus : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Metformine-like.
Selon Malalavidhane TS (2003) : The present study was designed to investigate the oral hypoglycaemic activity of IA in streptozotocin induced diabetic Wistar rats, & Type II diabetic patients. Experimental diabetes was induced with streptozotocin in Wistar rats. Selon MALALAVIDHANE TS (2003) : The present study was designed to investigate the oral hypoglycaemic activity of IA in streptozotocin induced diabetic Wistar rats, & Type II diabetic patients.
  2. Oxidative stress : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: BHT-like.
Selon Dewanjee S (2015) : Dewanjee S et al, Water Spinach, Ipomoea aquatica (Convolvulaceae), Ameliorates Lead Toxicity by Inhibiting Oxidative Stress & Apoptosis, PLoS One. Selon Bokolo B (2019) : Plasma was extracted from blood & evaluated for renal function indices while kidneys were evaluated for oxidative stress markers & histology.
  3. Heart disease : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Prazocine-like.
Selon Khayungarnnawee A (2018) : The data showed that IAE had no effect on blood pressure and heart rate in anesthetized rats after injected the extract solution. However, IAE showed suppression of the NA-mediated aortic contraction in a dose dependent manner. Selon MALALAVIDHANE TS (2003) : The results revealed that consumption of the shredded, fresh, edible portion of IA for one week, effectively reduced the fasting blood sugar level of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats (p = 0.01).

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
