  1. Type II diabetes mellitus : Plant part used: Bark. Documented pharmacological profile: Acarbose-like.
    Selon Palanisamy UD (2014) : It is worthy to note that S cumini, has been shown to display anti-diabetic activities in sreptozotocin induced rat studies (Kumar et al., 2008). This was followed by the extracts from Syzygium cumini (leaf), Nephelium lappaceum, Syyzgium aqueum & Garcinia mangostana.(rind) Interestingly, it was observed that these extracts displayed activities comparable & at times higher than the commercial anti-glycemic drug; Acarbose, & the commercial grape seed extract.
  2. Arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatism : Plant part used: Flower. Documented pharmacological profile: Diclofenac-like.
    Selon AMALA B (2015) : Antioxidants prevents oxidative damage caused by free radicals & can be used in cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory diseases. Presence of these phytochemicals have ability for curing various ailments & possess potential anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial & antioxidant activities. (2004) : et al, Anti-inflammatory & antibacterial activity of Peltophorum pterocarpum flowers.
  3. Hepatitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Silymarine-like.
    Selon Biswas K (2009) : The 70% ethanolic extract of Peltophorum pterocarpum leaves were investigated for its hepatoprotective effect against paracetamol induced acute liver damage on albino Wistar rats. These results suggest that 70% ELPP may have the potential therapeutic value in the treatment of paracetamol induced hepatic damage and some liver diseases.
