This database documents alcoholic (ethanol) extractions of active substances. Our monograph currently lists 17 indications in alcoholic extraction for this species. The monograph draws on 84 scientific references recorded for the species.

Therapeutic indications in alcoholic extraction:

Note: scientific reference excerpts are kept in their original language (most often English), without translation, to respect the source text of publications.

  1. Oxidative stress : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: RUTINE-like.
Selon Aseervatham GS (2013) : Acetaminophen treatment was found to trigger an oxidative stress in liver, leading to an increase of serum marker enzymes. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the antioxidant & hepatoprotective effect of polyphenolic-rich P. Selon Gonzalez Pena MA (2021) : The carotenoids were extracted from mamey & carrot, & their antioxidant capacity were determined via in vitro (ABTS method) & in vivo assays (resistance against oxidative stress in Caenorhabditis elegans).
  2. Osteoarthritis, oedema, arthritis, rheumatism : Plant part used: Seed. Documented pharmacological profile: Indométacine-like.
Selon Aly ME (2016) : The seeds ethanolic extract produced 85% inhibition of inflammation in the rat paw oedema test at the dose of 100 mg/kg after 4 h (p<0.05). The present study was conducted to evaluate the analgesic, anti-inflammatory & gastroprotective activities of ethanol, de-fatted ethanol extracts & n-hexane fractions of Pouteria Campechiana (Kunth) Baehni leaves & seeds. Selon Nur M (2022) : PC peel contains a significantly (p < 0.01; p < 0.001) high amount of phenolics, flavonoids, & showed potential antioxidant, anti-inflammation activities as compared to the pulp.
  3. Gastric ulcer : Plant part used: Seed. Documented pharmacological profile: Ranitidine-like.
Selon Aly ME (2016) : Both leaves & seeds ethanolic extracts showed significant decreases in gastric ulcer number & severity (p<0.05). The present study was conducted to evaluate the analgesic, anti-inflammatory & gastroprotective activities of ethanol, de-fatted ethanol extracts & n-hexane fractions of Pouteria Campechiana (Kunth) Baehni leaves & seeds. Selon Nur M (2022) : PC peel contains a significantly (p < 0.01; p < 0.001) high amount of phenolics, flavonoids, & showed potential antioxidant, anti-inflammation activities as compared to the pulp.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
