- Type II diabetes mellitus : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Pioglitazone-like.
Selon Ko CY (2018) : The administration of 100 or 400 mg kg BW⁻¹ day⁻¹ of RTL aqueous or ethanolic extracts once a day for 4 weeks significantly ameliorated hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia & the insulin resistance (IR) index in diabetic rats. We investigated the effect of RTL aqueous & ethanolic extracts on hypoglycemia in high‐fat diet (HFD) ‐fed plus streptozotocin (STZ) ‐induced T2DM rats, & examined the effect of RTL on glucose uptake in tumor necrosis factor‐α‐induced insulin‐resistant mouse C2C12 myoblasts, a mouse skeletal muscle cell line. Selon Rajan M (2012) : Rajan M et al, Antidiabetic, Antihyperlipidaemic & hepatoprotective activity of methanolic extract of Ruellia tuberosa Linn leaves in normal and alloxan induced diabetic rats, J of Chem & Pharmaceut Res, 2012, 4(6):2860-8. - Hypercholesterolaemia, hyperlipidaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia : Plant part used: Root. Documented pharmacological profile: Atorvastatine-like.
Selon Chaitanya KB (2012) : The present study was designed to investigate the anti- hyperlipidemic activity of Ruella tuberosa ethanolic extract (RTEE 2012) in Triton X-100 induced Hyperlipidemic rats. RTEE 2012 show a significant decrease in the levels of serum cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, VLDL & significant increase in the level of serum HDL with increase in dose of RTEE 2012 against Triton induced hyperlipidemic rats. Selon Sailaja B (2010) : The extract administration also decreased the extent of lipid peroxidation & enhanced the levels of antioxidant enzymes in the kidneys of urolithic rats, reflecting its antioxidant efficacy against hyperoxaluria induced renal oxidative stress. - Osteoarthritis, arthritis, rheumatism, oedema : Plant part used: Aerial parts. Documented pharmacological profile: Indometacine-like.
Selon Alam M (2009) : The anti-inflammatory properties exhibited by the extract were comparable to that of indomethacin at a dose of 5 mg/kg (serotonin-induced edema 53.22; egg albumin-induced edema 57.01% inhibition after 4 h). (Acanthaceae) was evaluated for its antinociceptive & anti-inflammatory properties in experimental mice and/or rat models. Selon Kumar RN (2014) : Kumar RN et al, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY OF TUBER OF RUELLIA TUBEROSA L.
