  1. Oxidative stress : Plant part used: Fruit. Documented pharmacological profile: Acide ascorbique-like.
Selon Mbah OH (2017) : Conclusion: The SM fruit contains the studied phytochemicals & vitamins while the ethanol extract of the fruit could significantly mitigate MSG-induced oxidative stress in the rats. The heightened search for underutilized plant-sourced food necessitated this study aimed at determining some phytochemicals & vitamins in Solanum melongena Linn fruit & the influence of the ethanol extract of the sample on MSG–induced oxidative stress. Selon Lo Scalzo R (2010) : These results showed that the thermal treatment commonly used before consumption can increase the content & biological activity of antioxidant compounds of SM,.
  2. Cancer : Plant part used: Seed.
Selon Yamorhammadi F (2021) : According to these studies, SM can control diabetes through the anti-oxidative properties and inhibition of α-amylase & α-glucosidase activity. SM may have shown protective effects on hyperlipidemia & obesity via the induction of lipoprotein lipase activity & the reduction of pancreatic lipase activity. Selon Lee YM (2001) : Immunologic anaphylactic reaction was generated by sensitizing the skin with anti-dinitrophenyl (DNP) IgE followed 48 h later with an injection of antigen.
  3. Inflammatory conditions : Plant part used: Shaft.
Selon Im K (2016) : In order to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of SM stalk, an ethanol extract of the stalk was prepared, & fractionated into hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, & water fractions. The data suggest that S.M stalk possesses pharmacological activity & might be useful for development of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory agents, or dietary supplements. Selon Dadi JF (2013) : Anti-inflammatory activity of the petroleum ether, chloroform, Aqueous & methanol extracts of the root of Solanum melongena was studied in Wistar rats using the carrageenan induced left hind paw edema.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
