- Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Gentamycine-like.
Selon Princely S (2013) : The antimicrobial properties of both the aqueous & ethanolic extracts were studied against clinical strains of six human pathogenic bacteria: two gram (+), viz Staphylococcus aureus & Bacillus subtilis & four gram (−) viz Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, & Klebsiella pneumoniae, two fungi one yeast (Candida albicans) & one mold (Aspergillus niger) using disc diffusion method. Phytochemical screening & antimicrobial activity of aqueous & ethanolic extracts of Stachytarpheta indica aerial parts was assessed. Selon Idu M (2007) : Crude concentrations of aqueous extract of leaves showed varying activities on Bacillus subtillis, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aureginosa, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella arogene, Proteus mirabilis & J62K1 serving as control. - Liver disorders : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Liv-52-like.
Selon Joshi VG (2010) : Ethanolic extract of SJ produced reduction in CCl4 induced elevated levels of SGPT, SGOT, SALP and Serum bilirubin & reversed total protein in rats indicating hepatoprotective activity at the dose of 200mg/kg body weight & was comparable to that of standard drug Liv-52(1ml/kg body weight).Further histopathological studies indicated that the animals pretreated with ethanolic extract of SJ was minimal with distinct preservation of structures & architectural frame of the hepatic cells, &dis comparable to standard Liv-52. Most of the active constituents were present in Ethanolic extract & hence extract was further evaluated for hepatoprotective activity. Selon Ogie-Odia E.A (2009) : Bilirubin levels in all the groups showed slight variation (p>0.05). - Injury, infected wound, incision : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Povidone iodine-like.
Selon De la Cruz Caluya E (2017) : In this study, the rats were divided into four groups with 9 replicates; T1, the control group where no treatment was given to the animals, T2 for animals treated with commercial 10% povidone- iodine, T3 for animals treated with 95% ethyl alcohol a&T4 for animals treated with the crude extract of S. The wound healing activity of the ethanolic crude leaf extract of Stachytarpheta jamaicensis was evaluated in albino rats by excision wound model for a period of 20 days. Selon Jacela JJ (2015) : Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (sentimento) is utilized by locals from Maasin, Iloilo as an open wound poultice for its antibacterial properties.
Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
