  1. Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Bark. Documented pharmacological profile: Ciprofloxacine-like.
Selon SHAGUFA A (2012) : The study was conducted to know & compare the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extracts of Phlogacanthus thyrsiflorus (EEPT), Houttuynia cordata (EEHC), Curcuma caesia (EECC) & Syzygium jumbos (EESJ) on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli & Pseudomonas aeruginosa by disc diffusion method. The ethanolic extracts of P thyrsiflorus (EEPT) & H cordata (EEHC) showed significant antibacterial activity against S aureus, E coli & P aeruginosa. Selon MADHUSHIKA C (2021) : Hexane extract of SJ leaves depicted the highest inhibition zone, against Escherichia coli which was 21.5±2.5 mm whereas hexane seed extract of SS showed the highest inhibition zones against the bacterial strains Bacillus subtilis & Staphylococcus aureus which was 20±1 mm in diameter.
  2. Cancer : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Actinomycine-like.
Selon Chua, L.K (2019) : Many possess the ability to inhibit cell proliferation & induce apoptosis. Classical treatment modalities for cancer include surgery, radiotherapy & chemotherapy. Selon LIU A (2025) : All isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against two lung carcinoma cell lines, H1975 & HCC827.
  3. Hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease : Plant part used: Sheet. Documented pharmacological profile: Silymarine-like.
Selon Islam R (2012) : Hepatoprotective activity of the plant extract was evaluated in a rat model of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver damage. Thus, the present study revealed that SJL may have antioxidant & hepatoprotective activity. Selon Thamizh Selvam N (2013) : Thamizh Selvam N et al, Hepatoprotective activity of methanolic extract of Syzygium jambos (Linn.) leaf against paracetamol intoxicated Wistar albino rats, AYU: Pharmacol study, 2013; 34(3):305-DOI: 10.4103/0974-8520.12313,.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
