Note: scientific reference excerpts are kept in their original language (most often English), without translation, to respect the source text of publications.

  1. Bacterial infection : Plant part used: Whole plant. Documented pharmacological profile: Ciprofloxacine-like.
According to Liu C (2013): Modem pharmacological studies have showed that the Desmodium species have antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, diuretic, antipyretic, analgesic & choleretic activity. According to Princ KR (2017): The bacterial proteins were downloaded from Protein Data Bank with PDB id: 1UAG, 2X5O, 3UDI & 3TYE. Among all the compounds indole-3-acetic acid & hypaphorine showed very good scores with the proteins 1UAG, 2X5O, 3UDI & 3TYE bacterial proteins.
  2. Cancer : Plant part used: Whole plant. Documented pharmacological profile: Vincristine-like.
According to Lai SC (2010): Furthermore, its antiproliferative activities were investigated through the MTT method. This study evaluated the antioxidant & antiproliferative activities of the crude extract & fractions of Desmodium triflorum (L.) DC. According to Lai SC (2009): MDT also affected the levels of interleukin-1beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, NO & MDA which were induced by lambda-carrageenan.
  3. Cholera : Plant part used: Whole plant. Documented pharmacological profile: Gentamycine-like, Meropenem-like.
According to Karim R (2021): cholerae activities were assessed by performing MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) test using disc diffusion method with different concentrations (1.25, 2.50, 8.00, 10.00, 12.50, 15.00 mg/ml) where standard discs of gentamycin & meropenem (10 μg/disc) were used. Therefore, the present study aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity of methanolic & ethanolic extracts of DT whole plant & TC fruits against V. According to Liu C (2013): Modem pharmacological studies have showed that the Desmodium species have antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, diuretic, antipyretic, analgesic & choleretic activity.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use and full scientific references are available in the complete monograph.
